Eddie Jahn – Managing Director, Harmoni HS
How long have you been working for Harmoni?
I set up Harmoni with a group of GPs and a laptop in 1996.
What is the best part of your job?
Working with people who have a passion for what they do.
Why do you enjoy working for Harmoni?
Two main reasons I think. One is that there is a strong purpose in what we do – making a positive difference to the way care is provided to patients. Secondly that work in Harmoni is never dull; there is always a new challenge and a new opportunity that keeps things exciting.
How does your role affect Harmoni's vision of 'treating patients as family'?
I have a responsibility to both create the environment and attitude across our organisation that in turn supports people to 'treat patients as family', and to provide assurance to the organisation, and indeed to patients and our commissioners, that we are living up to this vision.
Background...
I was born and bred in the New Forest, graduated from Durham University and my early career developed within transport and distribution. A chance meeting diverted my career into healthcare, from which I have never looked back. I have worked across commercial, NHS and not-for-profit healthcare organisations for the last 19 years.
A day in the life...
Five meetings of which two are a motorway trip away, 150 emails, 20 phone calls and several documents to read and sign.
A little-know fact about you...
When in my late twenties I spent a year travelling around the world, including spending four months in Africa.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I still don't know!
