New Health Centre opens in Weston-super-Mare
The doors of our new nurse-led centre were officially opened in Weston-super-Mare on Thursday 25th March 2010 . The Centre aims to provide first class primary healthcare for people not currently registered with a GP. Other patients to be prioritised in the new centre – where they can also receive treatment from a GP – include drug and alcohol mis-uers, the homeless, holiday makers, temporary residents and elderly people.
The centre was officially opened by Stephen Harrison, Chair of NHS North Somerset and North Somerset's Chairman of Council - Councilor Liz Wells.
The Health Centre, located on the Boulevard, will provide all the usual primary care services in addition to specialist clinics such as Asthma and chronic chest and breathing conditions; diabetes care, blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring and childhood immunisations. Patients can also receive flu vaccines and a child health surveillance service, baby clinics and family planning advice.
Located in the same building will also be the NHS North Somerset Health Central, where anyone can drop in and receive advice and signposting on everything from quitting smoking to exercise, healthy eating and sensible drinking. It all adds up to accessible healthcare for the people who most need it.
We have a friendly team of staff and accessible family and worker friendly appointments as well as access to GP’s. Many of the people living and working in Weston’s Central ward have many complex healthcare needs and we want to encourage them to visit us and see for themselves how we can help them register and receive the healthcare to which they are entitled.
