Steve Turner - Director of Acquisitions and Strategy

How long have you been working for Harmoni?
7 years

What is the best part of your job?
Meeting the innovative GPs and businessmen/women who are passionate about healthcare and helping them in making their vision of the NHS come to fruition.

Why do you enjoy working for Harmoni?
The staff are brilliant and I like being part of a company that delivers a high quality health service that is free at the point of delivery and uses modern management techniques and technology to give all patients the best and most consistent service available. (And a service that Nye Bevan would be proud of.)

How does your role affect Harmoni's vision of 'treating patients as family'?
With all of the new companies that we create, I need to make sure that they can make an important contribution to our vision.

A bit of background information about you......
Before joining Harmoni, I was the Director of Support Services at the Royal Hospital Haslar in Hampshire. Prior to that I served as a Commander in the Royal Navy for 20 years where I honed my management skills in a variety of ships, the MOD in Whitehall and a number of appointments abroad.

A day in the life of you in your role
Meeting with GPs - both providers and commissioners, PCT's and a wide variety of business contacts, plus far too much time in my car!

A little-known fact about you
I played 6 times at Twickenham, the home of Rugby, but not for England!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional rugby player.
